The two waited quietly in the car, the already dim sky gradually fading into silence, and the North Ridge Base completely plunged into darkness.

“Almost time, let’s go.”

Lin Qianhuan started the tall truck, breaking through the wind and snow and heading towards Building 486.

Arriving at the destination, they found many people standing in front of the unit door.

They were fully armed, their eyes fierce and sharp, scanning the two of them up and down.

“District Chief Gao has ordered that everyone entering Building 486 must be searched. Come on, search them.”

Upon hearing this, Ye Anqi couldn’t help but frown: “Wait a minute! What do you mean? Gao Rongguang invited us to a banquet, is this how you treat guests!”

The leading man sneered: “Base Chief, you should be very clear who is the chopping board and who is the fish now, right? You didn’t have the right to refuse this banquet in the first place, nor the search.”

Saying this, he raised his hand and tidied the broken hair in front of his forehead: “Of course, you can refuse the search. There are thousands of residents in the building, pick 10 people to die.”

Ye Anqi clenched her fists tightly, the anger in her heart escalating.

Lin Qianhuan chuckled and pulled her behind her.

“It’s just a search, everyone, please, we will definitely cooperate.”

Gao Rongguang didn’t really want to search them, he just wanted to give Lin Qianhuan and Ye Anqi a hard time. After all, everyone knows that Lin Qianhuan is a space-type ability user, she doesn’t need pockets to store things, even if they search, they won’t find anything.

Seeing Lin Qianhuan cooperate, the man’s gaze softened a little: “It’s good to cooperate, it will save you some suffering.”

As soon as he finished speaking, a thin man hurriedly ran to Lin Qianhuan, reaching out to take off her clothes.

But before his fingertips touched the corner of her winter coat, he was kicked away.

The thin man didn’t dare to say anything, just knelt in the snow and begged for mercy frantically: “Captain, it’s just that I haven’t seen a woman for too long. I…”

Before he could finish speaking, a dagger directly pierced his throat.

The man who did it was Jiang Xing, the squad leader who demanded the search.

His voice was cold, containing murderous intent: “You dare to act without the captain’s permission? Have you forgotten the rules set by District Chief Gao?”

Jiang Xing’s methods were clean and swift, but in the eyes of everyone present, it was interpreted as establishing authority. After all, the man he played was the newly appointed captain, and it was nothing to kill someone as the new official lighting three fires.

“Report to the captain, we haven’t forgotten!”

Several people responded in unison, lowering their heads and standing in place, not daring to act rashly.

Jiang Xing snorted coldly and walked to Lin Qianhuan, with his back to the others.

“Old Liu, you search this woman.”

“Oh, coming.”

He Lu walked to Ye Anqi, and began to search her lazily under the other party’s murderous gaze.

Jiang Xing looked down at Lin Qianhuan, his movements swift but gentle.

“Miss you.”

He whispered in her ear, the heat brushing past her neck, causing a shiver.

Lin Qianhuan curled the corners of her lips imperceptibly, without responding.

The search process ended quickly, and Ye Anqi and Lin Qianhuan, surrounded by the crowd, climbed up the stairs step by step, finally arriving at Gao Rongguang’s door.

Jiang Xing stepped forward and knocked on the door: “Base Chief, the people have arrived.”

There was no response from inside the house for a long time, and after a few minutes, a faint response finally came: “Bring them in.”

As soon as the group entered the house, they were hit with the bitter smell of cigarettes.

The house was filled with smoke, and the ground was covered with cigarette butts.

Gao Rongguang sat on the sofa and looked at the two, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips: “Base Chief, long time no see.”

He picked up the delicate porcelain cup on the coffee table and took a sip.

“The last time I saw you was the day your father died.”

Ye Anqi suddenly laughed: “Yes, that day you led your subordinates in an attempt to rebel, but I successfully suppressed you. A lot of people died at that time, not just my father, but also your son.”

Gao Rongguang’s hand holding the porcelain cup suddenly paused, and then he gripped it harder and harder, until his knuckles turned white.

“Base Chief is still so sharp-tongued, not forgiving at all. You are not a fool, you should know why I called you here today, right?”

Ye Anqi nodded frankly and sat on the sofa with Lin Qianhuan without any politeness.

“Of course, after all, everyone knows your intentions, you have been coveting the position of Base Chief for a long time. Calling me over today is probably to take my life without anyone knowing, and then take my place grandly. Am I right? District Chief Gao.”

Ye Anqi deliberately emphasized the words “District Chief” to make Gao Rongguang recognize his position.

“What do you mean replace you? I’m just taking back what should belong to me. I should have been the Base Chief, in terms of ability, seniority, experience, and means, how can you compare to me? Just a young girl, occupying my position for so long, it’s time to return it to me.”

Gao Rongguang turned his head to look at Lin Qianhuan: “I almost forgot, there’s you. If it wasn’t for you sending a large amount of supplies, I would have been able to force Ye Anqi to abdicate with the supplies I had in hand. Don’t worry, I won’t let you go either.”

Lin Qianhuan’s eyebrows curved, showing no fear at all.

“You’re too kind, this is all I should do. After all, I can’t stand those who rely on their age and pretend to be profound. I also like to help those in need, so today, I don’t plan to let you go either.”

Gao Rongguang started laughing loudly upon hearing this, the wrinkles on his face gradually deepening, and his gaze becoming fierce.
