In the apocalypse, temperature fluctuations are normal. In her previous life, Lin Qianhuan had even seen snow falling in June.

But for supernatural ability squads on missions, every inch of space in the vehicle should be utilized efficiently. Even the gaps between the seats were stuffed with cans and bottled water, leaving them no extra space for warm clothing.

Lin Qianhuan turned to look at the others behind Ling Yun. Most of them were wearing short sleeves with jackets, and some only had thin hoodies. At that moment, they were shivering and huddled together for warmth.

Lin Qianhuan had stockpiled a lot of gasoline. Not to mention the gasoline she purchased before the apocalypse, she had already emptied several gas stations while hunting zombies. Therefore, she had no psychological burden or heartache about using the car’s heater.

But things were different for Ling Yun and the others. They were on official missions, and fuel and supplies were rationed. Any extra had to be bought out of their own pockets. Gasoline was so precious that even in the cold, they were reluctant to turn on the heater.

Lin Qianhuan stroked her chin, “I can sell some to you, depending on what you want. Brand new ones are 50 first-level crystal cores each, used ones are 30 crystal cores each.”

Ling Yun took out a black velvet bag from his pocket, filled with scattered crystal cores. Unfortunately, this wasn’t his personal stash, but official funds. He had to report how much he spent and why when he returned to the base.

“Give me 12 used ones, please.”

Ling Yun handed over the right number of crystal cores. Lin Qianhuan glanced at them roughly and threw them into her space. Having just come from the free base, she currently had abundant supplies. She certainly wouldn’t give these used clothes to her own team. Leaving them in the warehouse would only take up space, so she might as well sell them for crystal cores.

“No problem.”

Lin Qianhuan pulled out cotton-padded clothes from her space and placed them on the convenience store’s counter. Most of these clothes were taken from the dead, and many stains were visible at a glance. But in the apocalypse, most people didn’t care about such things. After all, being able to stay warm and avoid getting sick was already a rare thing for ordinary survivors.

Ling Yun nodded slightly, thanked Lin Qianhuan, and began to call his team members to choose clothes from the counter.

After all, Qu Xintong was the daughter of a high-ranking base official, so the team members mostly gave way to her intentionally or unintentionally. After picking and choosing, they finally left the cleanest-looking one for her.

Wearing an exquisite Chanel-style suit, Qu Xintong’s lips were turning purple from the cold. She reached out to take the cotton coat and put it on, complaining incessantly.

“These clothes are so dirty, there must be a lot of bacteria and viruses on them. Huang Shanshan, as a space-type supernatural ability user, shouldn’t you have considered these things in advance and brought enough supplies we might need? There are so many space-type supernatural ability users, and I don’t know why they picked you, such a stupid pig, to team up with me. It’s so unlucky.”

As she spoke, she zipped the zipper to the top and rubbed her hands, feeling much better.

Huang Shanshan knew her nature and didn’t say anything, quietly tidying up the cotton coat on her body. It was a man’s coat, a bit big for her, but it didn’t matter.

Ling Yun patted the counter, “She’s the team’s space-type supernatural ability user, not specifically serving you.”

Qu Xintong opened her mouth to retort, but when she saw his cold, ruthless eyes, she subconsciously swallowed the words that were about to come out. Seeing that she had finally become quiet, Ling Yun’s expression improved slightly.

“Huang Shanshan, take out the cars, let’s continue on our way.”

When traveling outside, vehicles were essential transportation. But when staying overnight, they could easily be damaged by zombies or malicious people, which was hard to prevent. Therefore, most teams would have the space-type supernatural ability user store the cars to prevent accidents.

“Okay, Captain.”

Huang Shanshan stepped forward and took out three cars from her space.

At this time, Lin Qianhuan and her group had already left them far behind. Each person held a meat-filled bun for breakfast. The crust was thin, the filling was large, and it tasted very good.

“Continuing east along this road will take us to Lingqing City. I wonder what the situation is like there.”

Lin Qianhuan took a sip of purple rice porridge, turned to look out the window, and frowned in confusion. She rolled down the car window and peered into the distance.

“Look, is it foggy?”

He Lu stuffed the remaining bun into his mouth, his cheeks bulging, and his speech was somewhat unclear.

“Yeah, it is.”

The fog wasn’t dense, but from a distance, it seemed as if all the buildings were covered with a layer of white gauze. It didn’t affect the view, but it seemed somewhat hazy and unreal.

Lin Qianhuan sighed and turned on the car’s air conditioning.

“I hope the fog doesn’t get any thicker, or it might delay our trip, and the risk factor will be a bit high.”

She rubbed her neck and called Lin Wansheng, instructing him and her brother to be careful while driving.

The SUVs slowed down and continued forward, but everything went against Lin Qianhuan’s expectations.

The fog was getting thicker and thicker. The closer they got to Lingqing City, the thicker the fog became. Gradually, they couldn’t even see the road ahead.

Looking at the looming silhouettes of buildings in the fog, Lin Qianhuan frowned slightly and told Lin Wansheng to stop the car.

“We can’t continue any further.”

In the thick fog, they could easily lose direction. Now it was the apocalypse, and there were many obstacles on the road. Continuing blindly like this might cause them to crash into something.

Lin Wansheng’s voice came from the communicator, “Okay, let’s find a place nearby to stop. Maybe the fog will clear by noon.”

The two SUVs stopped by the road. After putting the cars into their spaces, the group groped their way into a nearby building.

Judging from the decoration on the first floor, it was probably an office building before the apocalypse. There was a map in the corner, showing that the building had 24 floors.

After closing the glass door and using a steel pipe to secure it, the group had the mind to start exploring the building.

The first floor was a lobby, with nothing much to see. Lin Qianhuan found the stairwell and began searching upwards, floor by floor.

The second floor was full of desks, drawers were pulled open, and documents were scattered all over the floor, with many messy footprints on them. The supplies had already been looted, so there was nothing to see.

Lin Qianhuan came to the window and looked out, feeling vaguely uneasy. It was now 9:40 AM, but the fog showed no signs of dissipating, instead becoming even thicker. It was white, and visibility was almost zero. Leaning out, Lin Qianhuan couldn’t even see the other windows of the building.

It was too strange, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on what was wrong.
