A nauseating, rotten smell wafted over, and the four silently put on masks, but still couldn’t resist the onslaught of the stench.

Xuanyuan Ming fixed her gaze on Lin Qianhuan, forcing herself not to look at the disgusting scene.

“Why don’t we try going back the way we came? Didn’t we cross a bridge when we entered Mingyu City? There weren’t these monsters under the bridge back then.”

Lin Qianhuan knew in her heart that going back the way they came probably wouldn’t help, but she still drove back to take a look.

Sure enough, Mingyu City was already surrounded by insect eggs.

Entering hadn’t felt any different, but leaving was proving to be extremely difficult.

Lin Qianhuan rubbed the bridge of her nose wearily, and the four of them sat back in the car to discuss a plan.

“Spray insect repellent in every corner inside and outside the car. I’ll use a mental barrier to wrap the car body, leaving some gaps for you two to use your abilities. Jiang Xing, use lightning strikes, and A’Ming, use fire. I don’t believe we can’t break through.”

Lin Qianhuan’s eyes were firm as she looked at the mutated mosquitoes flying around the bridge, already having made a decision in her mind.

Her purpose on this trip was to travel, not to rescue every city they passed through.

Taking care of herself was enough; Lin Qianhuan had no intention of saving others.

She wasn’t that great, nor did she think she had the ability.

No sooner said than done, the four prepared themselves. Xuanyuan Ye drove, and the other three held their abilities, ready to fight the mutated mosquitoes at any moment.

The SUV suddenly charged forward, but the insects seemed to sense their purpose, swarming up in droves.

Dense and numerous, they blotted out the sky and the sun, letting no sunlight through.

The front windshield was completely filled, and Xuanyuan Ye couldn’t see the situation ahead, so he could only drive forward blindly, gripping the steering wheel nervously.

Then, with a “bang,” the front of the car crashed into a wall woven from the insect swarm, distorting and deforming the front of the car and almost injuring Xuanyuan Ye and Lin Qianhuan, who were sitting in the front row.

“It’s no good, Qianhuan! There are too many of these insects, we can’t kill them all!”

Xuanyuan Ming and Jiang Xing joined forces, constantly dealing with the insects outside the car.

But the other side reproduced rapidly, had a short growth cycle, and was frighteningly numerous, making it impossible to clean them up in a short amount of time.

Lin Qianhuan patted the bamboo in her pocket, which was sleeping soundly. It opened its eyes in a daze, gave a milky yawn, and then climbed onto Lin Qianhuan’s shoulder and sat down.

The pressure spread out, but it only slowed the movements of these mutated insects for a moment, with no obvious effect.

Bamboo howled twice, because it had signed a contract with Lin Qianhuan, it quickly understood what the little guy meant.

“These mutated mosquitoes are too low-level, they don’t have the ability to think, only the instinct to obey and the suppression of bloodline connections. Bamboo’s threat has no effect on the insect swarm. If we want to get out, I’m afraid we can only find the boss behind the insect swarm and then get rid of it.”

Lin Qianhuan was a little annoyed; zombies were one thing, but these ubiquitous, low-level mutated mosquitoes were another.

There were a huge number of them, and they didn’t have the ability to think. Every move they made would only obey the orders of their boss.

If it were mutated cats and dogs, Bamboo could solve them without any effort, but who would have thought they would encounter such trouble?

Lin Qianhuan used her mental tentacles to drag the SUV back from the bridge to the Mingyu City area.

This time, there was no insect wall to block them, and they easily returned to the starting point.

Since then, the mosquitoes dispersed, continuing to linger by the bridge, waiting to block the next group of people trying to escape.

Xuanyuan Ye slammed the steering wheel, “This is really disgusting. They don’t directly attack, but only want to trap us in Mingyu City? I really don’t understand the brain circuits of these mutated animals, speechless. Could it be that they want to fatten us up before eating us?”

Lin Qianhuan sighed, “It’s not a solution to be trapped here, let’s go to Hongbin District and ask the original residents for information. They must know more than we do.”

Actually, she didn’t want to get too involved with the original residents here.

The two sides had only contacted each other twice, and it was impossible to determine whether the other party was good or bad, or what their purpose was in actively communicating with them.

Even if they went, they had to carefully distinguish what they said, to avoid being thrown into a trap and used as a gun.

“Mingyu City has already cost me two cars.”

Lin Qianhuan was still a little heartbroken, gritting her teeth and taking out an ordinary white car from her space.

The four of them arrived at Hongbin District by car, and from a distance, they saw someone coming to greet them.

It was still the young man who had spoken with them before.

“It’s too hot outside, why don’t we go inside and talk?”

Lin Qianhuan nodded, looking around the residential area, but didn’t notice anything unusual.

She thought these people lived in apartment buildings, but she didn’t expect them to live underground—in shelters dug out entirely by hand.

Seeing Lin Qianhuan’s surprise, the young man quickly explained, “There’s a rampant insect plague outside. As long as there’s a gap, they can crawl in and cling to us to suck blood and eat meat. We can’t stay on the ground anymore, so we’ve moved underground. Although the environment isn’t very good, it’s cooler than the ground and we can avoid the mosquito attacks.”

Lin Qianhuan nodded, roughly counting the number of people.

There were only 16 people.

“Let me introduce myself, my name is Yang Fan. I don’t know what the four of you are called?”

Lin Qianhuan didn’t tell him her full name.

“My surname is Lin.”

“Miss Lin, I imagine you’ve already seen the situation in Mingyu City. We can still go out to search for supplies during the day, but we can’t step out of the shelter half a step at night. I’m really curious how you and your teammates survived last night. Can you share your experience with us? We can also take this opportunity to reinforce our shelter.”

Lin Qianhuan smiled faintly, “It’s just that we didn’t sleep all night, and kept a close eye on every gap in the car, solving any mutated mosquitoes that crawled in. There’s no technical content, just a little tiring.”

She kept silent about her insect repellent spray.

After all, this was someone else’s territory, and the other party had a large number of people. In order to avoid being targeted by them, she planned to hide her strength for a while, and then make plans after roughly understanding the situation.

Seeing that Lin Qianhuan was unwilling to say more, Yang Fan pursed his lips and said nothing more.

“You said there are many survivor teams in Mingyu City, what is the total number of people? Why don’t you live together, but rather live scattered in various corners of the city?”

Lin Qianhuan asked, and Yang Fan didn’t care too much, explaining in detail.

“There are currently 23 survivor teams in Mingyu City, and the number of people in each team is around 15-20. Because we’ve found a pattern, these mutated mosquitoes actually find people based on their scent. As long as the number of people exceeds 20, they can be found no matter where they hide.”

Lin Qianhuan thoughtfully nodded, “Then what’s the situation with the gas station? Why don’t you share the oil equally? Instead, you leave it there and take it out periodically?”
