The survivors’ skin was frozen to a bluish-purple, with frostbite cracking and spreading all over their bodies.

Thick layers of frost clung to their eyelashes, eyebrows, and warm fleece hats, falling off with rustling sounds as they made stiff movements.

They wore somewhat thin cotton clothes, their steps slow but firm, moving various tall and heavy supplies to block the city gate, preventing zombies from breaking through and flooding into the base.

It was cold, too cold. Each breath of warm air they exhaled consumed their dwindling strength. Their feet felt as heavy as if filled with lead, yet they were forced to move forward.

Looking at these residents of the Beiling Base who resembled ice sculptures, Lin Qianhuan found it hard to imagine what they were feeling.

The scarcity of survival resources and the shortage of firewood for heating already made their lives extremely difficult.

The densely packed zombies outside the base eyed the residents inside the city covetously. They were constantly worried and frightened, on top of being unable to eat their fill or dress warmly.

After all, no one knew when the zombies would break through the city.

Ye Anqi’s face was stern and cold, and she stood silently in the blizzard, like a sculpture cast from ice and snow.

The tip of her nose was slightly purple from the cold, and her rough hands were already cracked, covered with frostbite and various wounds.

“I don’t know how to lead everyone to survive.

The natural disaster has undoubtedly dealt a heavy blow to the Beiling Base, and the zombie horde outside the city is the last straw that breaks us.

Every day, survivors kneel and kowtow to me, asking if there is any food, any warm cotton clothes or quilts.

But I have nothing. The supplies stored in the warehouse have long been emptied.

I can only watch helplessly as more and more residents die from the extreme cold.

I watch them chew on ice and snow to fill their stomachs, watch them swallow the flesh and blood of their own kind, but I am helpless.”

Lin Qianhuan quietly watched the figures slowly moving in the wind and snow, and gently breathed out a puff of warm air.

“Don’t be afraid, I’m here.”

She glanced at Number 2 and stuffed the bamboo into his arms again.

He instantly understood her meaning, put the bamboo on his shoulder, and disappeared from everyone’s sight in a few leaps.

Outside the base were all low-level zombies, although there were many of them, their quality was poor.

Lin Qianhuan didn’t even need to take action; Number 2 and Bamboo could easily deal with them.

The wave-like roars outside the city wall gradually stopped, and the precarious gate finally stopped shaking.

The power-based Evolvers blocking the gate felt for a moment as if they were hallucinating.

A burly man blinked his eyes in a somewhat dazed manner: “Stopped… stopped?”

His words were like a drop of water thrown into a frying pan, instantly exploding.

“Stopped! It really stopped! The zombies are no longer ramming the gate!”

“Were they attracted away by something else? Thank God, we can finally rest.”

“Rest what rest? Even if the zombies are gone, don’t we still have no food to eat, no firewood to burn?”

At this point, the crowd fell silent again.

Lin Qianhuan turned to look at Ye Anqi: “Base Chief Ye, let everyone go back inside and stay put, it’s warmer than outside anyway.”

But she just stared blankly at the calm gate, her eyes filled with disbelief.

“The zombies, were they taken care of by that man just now?”

She turned to look at Lin Qianhuan, her eyes faintly red, with a sense of relief after surviving a disaster.

Ye Anqi couldn’t believe that the problem that had plagued the Beiling Base for so long had been solved so easily.

What were the backgrounds of these great figures from the Xiangyang Base?

Lin Qianhuan curved her lips: “It’s good that the crisis is resolved, quickly let everyone go back.

I brought fireplaces and firewood, it’s most important to let everyone warm up first.”

Ye Anqi nodded repeatedly. Her gaze had just fallen on the residents blocking the gate when she saw them falling into the biting snow one after another.

She was shocked and stumbled over, her eyes filled with nervousness and fear.

“Someone! Someone! Get them back inside to warm up!

Hurry!”

A group of people ran over in a hurry from the distance, holding dilapidated stretchers in their hands, barely transferring the unconscious people to the side of the fire in the house.

Yi Hao raised his hand and injected his power into the bodies of the unconscious people, and quickly came to a conclusion.

“In order to resist the zombie invasion, their physical strength was severely overdrawn.

In addition to the severe cold and low temperature, their bodies can’t take it anymore.

Now that the crisis is resolved, the taut string suddenly broke, and they will naturally fall into a coma.”

He sighed softly, using his power to help several wounded people heal various wounds on their bodies.

“The external injuries are no longer a major problem, raise the temperature in the house and let them rest well for a while.”

Lin Qianhuan nodded, and after installing the fireplace, she threw a lot of dry firewood into it.

After igniting it with newspaper, the flames rose instantly, and the surrounding temperature also rose a lot.

Ye Anqi stood aside quietly watching, her eyes filled with gratitude and shame.

“Thank you all so much. If it weren’t for your support, the Beiling Base would probably have become a dead city!”

Seeing that Ye Anqi wanted to bow to her, Lin Qianhuan hurriedly stepped forward to help her.

“You don’t have to thank me. Although I helped you out, I’m here to do business, not for charity.”

She knew in her heart that if she really accepted Ye Anqi’s bow, the cost of those supplies would probably have to be taken from her own small treasury.

Lin Qianhuan was a very clear-headed person. She could rescue others, but on the premise that she would not lose money.

It didn’t matter if she didn’t make a profit, but she must never use her own money to subsidize others.

She could accept these people paying back later, but she couldn’t accept not paying a penny.

A trace of confusion flashed in Ye Anqi’s eyes. She lowered her head in shame, her voice very low.

“But now the situation in Beiling Base is critical, and the crystal cores have long been spent.

We can’t afford so many supplies you sent.”

Lin Qianhuan smiled and raised her hand to pat her shoulder: “Don’t worry, I’m not going to take advantage of your misfortune.

After the extreme cold passes, you can slowly pay me back.

With the three years after the extreme cold as the deadline, how about it?”

The time Lin Qianhuan gave was very generous, considering that the base needed to first restore normal production and repair buildings, she directly extended the repayment date to three years.

Ye Anqi wasn’t a fool either, and naturally knew that Lin Qianhuan had already made a huge concession.

She was usually a serious and steady person, but today her eyes turned red again and again.

“I really don’t know how to thank you, I…”

Ye Anqi’s voice gradually began to choke, and hot tears fell to the ground one by one, venting her emotions that had been suppressed to the extreme during this period.

Lin Qianhuan sighed softly and handed her a clean tissue.

Ye Anqi was just a young girl of about 25 years old.

Bearing the rise and fall of the entire Beiling Base, one can imagine how much pressure she was under.

Now that all the difficulties have been solved, not only the residents have breathed a sigh of relief, but Ye Anqi’s hanging heart has finally been put back into her stomach.

She cried wantonly, crying loudly regardless of her image, causing the surrounding residents to also have red eyes.
