Chapter 140
by REX-NOVELISTSJiang Xing clasped his hands together, feigning restraint as he nodded.
“I do.”
Yi Hao shrugged, spreading his palms. “See? That’s the difference between your feelings for Lin Qianhuan and He Lu’s. He Lu doesn’t fantasize about biting her lips. You’re such a creep.”
Jiang Xing’s eyes lit up with realization. He stood and patted Yi Hao’s shoulder.
“Thanks, Spicy Strip Prince. From now on, I’ll give you all the spicy snacks Qianhuan gives me.”
Yi Hao: “…”
Could you stop inventing nicknames? It’s incredibly rude.
“Make it at least five packs.”
“Deal.”
Satisfied, Jiang Xing left Yi Hao’s room. After lingering in the hallway, he returned to Lin Qianhuan’s door. He knocked timidly, waiting until the lock clicked open.
“Back again?” Lin Qianhuan yawned tiredly, leaning against the doorframe.
Jiang Xing tugged her sleeve pitifully. “Qianhuan, there’s a woman in my room. She… took off her clothes in front of me.”
He inched closer, bending to wrap his arms around her slender waist. “I’m scared. I don’t want to sleep there anymore.”
His lips brushed her ear as he smirked.
Lin Qianhuan frowned, irritation flaring. “And you just watched? You’re both disgusting!”
She tried to pull back, but Jiang Xing seized her wrist, swiftly maneuvering them inside and locking the door—a practiced routine.
Lifting her into his arms, he met her dark, wary gaze solemnly.
“I didn’t look. I reduced her to ashes.”
Lin Qianhuan froze mid-struggle, giving him the opening to hoist her fully off the ground. She looped her arms around his neck for balance, legs instinctively wrapping his hips.
“So? What’s that got to do with me?” She tugged his hair, toes dangling playfully.
“Earlier, you asked how my feelings differ from He Lu’s.” Jiang Xing’s amber eyes dropped to her parted lips, gaze darkening. “I have an answer now.”
“Don’t care. Put me down.”
But obedience wasn’t in his nature. A wolf, even collared, remains a predator.
Wolves hunt meat.
He claimed her lips, unskilled yet relentless. Lin Qianhuan stiffened, breath catching as fog clouded her eyes. When he finally pulled back, her voice emerged husky: “This… isn’t right.”
“Why?” Jiang Xing nuzzled her cheek. “You like me. I like you. We’re lovers. Isn’t this what lovers do?”
His throat bobbed as he leaned in again, but she pressed a hand to his mouth.
“Don’t you like it?” He nipped her palm, gaze unreadable. “But I do. What now?”
Pinning her against the wall, he peeled her hand away. Outmatched in strength, Lin Qianhuan traced his jawline instead. “Jiang Xing. Do you still listen to me?”
“Always.” He nuzzled her palm. “But Qianhuan, you can’t demand obedience without rewards. That’s unfair.”
She sighed. When did he get so cunning? Gone was the lab-escapee’s naivety.
“Fairness?” She twisted his earlobe. “I need time to understand my own feelings—and you need to question yours. Let’s pretend this never happened. Go back to how we were.”
“You’re lying again.”
Lin Qianhuan forced a laugh. “I’d never! Don’t you trust me?” She dipped her head in feigned hurt.
Panicked, Jiang Xing loosened his grip, setting her gently on the bed before kneeling at her feet. “Don’t be sad. I believe you. I’ll obey.”
“Good boy.” She patted his shoulder, gulping water. “Forget everything here. We’re still just teammates.”
Jiang Xing scowled. “No. You admitted we’re lovers. We—”
