One night, a cargo ship encountered a storm at sea and was blown “dizzy” by the strong winds, eventually dropping anchor near an island.

At dawn, the people on the cargo ship, believing they had reached land, disembarked one after another.

Once ashore, they were parched and starving, only to discover that they were on a desolate island in the vast ocean.

After we found these people, we kindly provided them with water and food.

Their cargo ship had a malfunction and couldn’t depart for the time being, so they stayed on the island.

The captain and a dozen crew members were all Vietnamese, and they could communicate with us in Chinese.

After the cargo ship was repaired, I heard that their ship was returning to Vietnam before departure, so I asked them if it would be convenient to take a few people back.

The captain was grateful to us for providing them with free drinking water and food these past few days, so he readily agreed.

After consulting everyone’s opinions, I, the political commissar, and the deputy team leader decided to take the cargo ship returning to Vietnam.

The four guerrilla fighters were already homeless, their relatives having been shot by the Japanese devils. They decided to stay on the island, find female ape-men to marry, and vow to build the island well.

There was no cell phone signal on the island, so we couldn’t make calls or start live streaming, but I recorded a lot of videos.

After we returned by boat, Wen Rourou’s father woke up from his dream.

I also woke up from Wen Rourou’s father’s dream.

When I woke up, everything was pitch black.

I groped around in the dark, took out a headlamp from my backpack, and put it on.

I turned on the headlamp and found myself sitting by an underground cave. I looked for the markings beside the cave. This was the fifth underground cave under Jiudong City Pedestrian Street.

Just like after my last dream awakening, I was back in Jiudong City again.

It was around eleven o’clock at night when I climbed out of the manhole cover. There weren’t many people on Pedestrian Street.

After returning to Jiudong City, I checked my phone immediately. The videos I took in Wen Rourou’s father’s dream were all saved on my phone, not a single one was lost.

I called Wen Rourou and asked about her father’s condition after waking up. She said that her father looked radiant after waking up this time, with a smile on his face all the time.

I took a shower at home and prepared to take the early morning flight to San Tong City the next day.

I woke up from a nap on the plane, and the plane happened to be landing in San Tong City.

After getting off the plane, I took a taxi directly to San Tong City People’s Hospital.

After entering the ward, I greeted Wen Rourou’s father first.

Wen Rourou’s father looked at me, smiling silently.

“Brother Tiandong, you’ve worked hard,” Wen Rourou looked at me affectionately.

“Rourou, am I still in a dream?” I said, smiling at Wen Rourou.

“How could it be? Can’t you see this living person?” Wen Rourou pretended to be angry, thinking I was teasing her.

I handed my phone to Wen Rourou and said, “How is this possible? I’m clearly in your father’s dream. How could I film the people and things in your father’s dream?”

Wen Rourou took my phone, saw the videos I took on the island, and didn’t say anything.

“So, I think I might still be in your father’s dream and haven’t woken up yet,” I explained.

“These are all true, these are all things that really happened,” Wen Rourou’s father, lying on the bed, suddenly spoke.

Wen Rourou and I both looked at him in surprise. His hands moved, and his head struggled to lift up, as if he wanted to sit up from the bed.

“Uncle, do you want to sit up?” I asked.

“Yes,” Wen Rourou’s father replied.

I helped him up from the bed, letting him lean against the headboard.

“According to you, there really is such a desolate island in the vast ocean! Have you really been to that island? Are those guerrilla fighters still living on that island?” I asked skeptically.

“The people and things I dreamed about were all personally experienced by my grandfather, and he told them to me,” Wen Rourou’s father said affirmatively.

“That’s strange, how could you and I fight the Japanese devils with your grandfather? We weren’t even born when your grandfather fought the Japanese devils?” I counted on my fingers and calculated the time of our birth with Wen Rourou’s father.

At this time, Wen Rourou’s father’s attending doctor, not knowing when, had already walked into the ward. After hearing the conversation between me and Wen Rourou’s father, he said, “What you two experienced before may not have been a dream, but a journey to a parallel universe.”

“Are you saying that the two ‘dream travel’ devices helped us travel to a parallel universe?” I looked at the attending doctor, as if I could understand what Wen Rourou’s father was saying.

The attending doctor nodded at me.

“Since it’s a parallel universe, then the people and things that happen in another universe have nothing to do with the universe we are in now. They should exist independently of each other. How did we travel from one universe to another, and then travel back from another universe?” I asked again, puzzled.

“This is unknown,” the attending doctor was, after all, a doctor, not a scientist.

The attending doctor was shocked to see that Wen Rourou’s father could actually speak, so he did many tests on him, and found nothing abnormal in his body.

Later, Wen Rourou’s father told me that he liked to adventure when he was young. Once, on an impulse, he sailed a small boat by himself to find that island in the sea.

He drifted at sea for three days and three nights. Later, he encountered a typhoon, and he and his small boat were blown to a mysterious sea area and stranded on an island.

After he landed on the island, he realized that the island was very similar to the island described by his grandfather. Sure enough, ape-men lived on the island. They could all speak Chinese and recognized Chinese characters.

He didn’t see those four guerrilla fighters on the island. A female ape-man told him that the four had died one after another.

He asked where they were buried? The female ape-man said that the people here are buried at sea after they die.

He found that the faces of the ape-men on this island were no different from modern humans. Especially the female ape-man standing in front of him, her facial contours were very three-dimensional, her features were stretched and generous, and she was very beautiful. He was moved and wanted to make friends with her, and she agreed.

He lived on the island for half a month. When he came back, he wanted to bring her back with him, and she agreed.

He took her, sitting on a small boat, and drifted at sea for three days and three nights.

On the fourth day, they encountered a storm. The moment their small boat passed through the eye of the storm, the small boat was parked in a calm bay.

After he brought her back home, she couldn’t adapt to the environment, and her appearance seemed to become ugly overnight.

He and the female ape-man were just boyfriend and girlfriend, and had not yet reached the point of talking about marriage, so he gradually alienated her.

Later, he began to fall in love with another woman, and soon the two got married.
