Emerging from the residence, Wen Rourou was utterly bewildered.

“Tian Dong, that woman’s face was so ferocious!” Wen Rourou exclaimed.

“Yeah, appearances reflect the heart. I feel like that woman is a bit twisted and perverted,” I replied.

Recently, I hadn’t been back to Central Plains Medical University. Wen Rourou’s father had regained consciousness, so there was no point in helping him with “brain-crossing awakening” anymore.

Although Wen Rourou’s father was now conscious, he had lost his language function, and his intelligence was only equivalent to that of a two-year-old child.

Last night, a professor’s assistant from Central Plains Medical University called me, saying they were researching a “dream-crossing” scientific project and asked if I and the patient’s family were interested in participating.

I told Wen Rourou about this, and she was very interested. She immediately called her mother, who was also very interested.

However, “dream-crossing,” like “brain-crossing awakening,” couldn’t be done by just anyone. It required a brainwave matching test between the crosser and the patient.

Because I had previously done a brainwave matching test with Wen Rourou’s father, I didn’t need to do another matching test this time.

After Wen Rourou’s father regained consciousness, he “fell in love” with dreaming.

The time he dreamed was like a set alarm clock, starting promptly at 9 a.m. every day.

Why were we willing to participate in this scientific research project at Central Plains Medical University?

The professor’s assistant told us that the crosser, with the help of their equipment, could cross into the patient’s dream and even interact with the patient in the dream.

The professor’s assistant also said that if a patient suddenly fell ill in a dream, and the crosser could step in to save them in the dream, they could prevent the patient from suddenly dying in the dream.

Wen Rourou’s father’s body had been twitching more and more violently when he dreamed these past few days, and his face had also become distorted. We were really afraid that he would get sick and die suddenly in the dream.

This morning, the hospital sent Wen Rourou’s father to Central Plains Medical University at the agreed time.

This time, for the “dream-crossing,” I also brought mobile phone live streaming equipment.

It was the same medical laboratory. I lay down in that familiar, bulky piece of equipment again, and Wen Rourou’s father was lifted into another bulky piece of equipment.

I closed my eyes, relaxed, and didn’t think about anything, just like falling asleep.

“Bang, bang, bang…” I was suddenly awakened by a burst of gunfire.

I saw a group of people running towards me. The people running at the back fell to the ground with a “thud.”

“Run! Are you standing here waiting to die!” the person running at the front shouted at me.

I hadn’t figured out what was going on, so I didn’t run with them and remained standing there.

I looked down at my feet and realized that there was a bottomless abyss below me.

How could I be standing above a bottomless abyss?

I took a closer look and realized that I was standing on a glass bridge.

Both ends of the glass bridge were connected to mountain peaks.

A dozen people with guns were shooting at us.

Several more people ran past me.

“A wise man doesn’t fight when the odds are against him.” I also quickly turned around, followed them, and ran towards the other end of the glass bridge.

After running to the other end of the glass bridge, we turned around and looked at the opposite side of the bridge. We saw that the dozen people with guns had stopped shooting, watching us from a distance, not planning to chase after us.

“What’s going on? Am I in Wen Rourou’s father’s dream?” I was utterly bewildered.

Seven or eight people lay scattered on the glass bridge, motionless.

Were they all dead?

A group of people stood at this end of the bridge, still in shock.

I had an ominous premonition and quickly ran towards the bridge.

“You’re crazy, come back!” the group of people behind me shouted loudly.

When I ran to the middle of the bridge, a bullet shot towards me.

I quickly collapsed to the side and fell onto the bridge. Then, I lay on the ground and continued to crawl forward.

Several more bullets flew over my head.

These dead people were all lying on the ground with their faces down.

I quickly flipped over several people’s faces, but I didn’t find Wen Rourou’s father.

There were still two corpses lying ahead.

I quickly crawled to the two corpses and flipped them over one by one. Finally, I found him—the last corpse was Wen Rourou’s father.

The bullets were getting denser, but most of them flew over my head, and a few bullets hit my butt, striking the glass of the glass bridge.

I dragged one of Wen Rourou’s father’s arms and tried to crawl back.

“Leave me alone,” a suppressed voice sounded behind me.

I turned my head and discovered that the voice was actually coming from Wen Rourou’s father’s mouth.

I still dragged one of Wen Rourou’s father’s arms and tried to crawl back.

“Don’t worry about me, I have a hand grenade on me. I’m waiting for them to come onto the bridge to die,” Wen Rourou’s father said in a low voice, half-closing his eyes.

“Wen Rourou’s father isn’t dead? Is he pretending to be dead?” I wondered to myself.

I had no choice but to let go of his arm and crawled back towards the other end of the glass bridge alone.

The few people with guns at the other end of the glass bridge saw that they had not hit me, so they quickly walked towards the middle of the bridge.

The faster I crawled, the faster those people chased after me, running while laughing.

Just as these people were about to reach the middle of the bridge, there was a loud “boom,” and a hand grenade suddenly exploded on the bridge. The glass bridge shook violently.

The few people with guns instantly fell to the ground, corpses on the bridge.

Seeing this, I turned around and crawled towards the middle of the bridge again.

The hand grenade had just been thrown by Wen Rourou’s father.

At the other end of the bridge, there were still a few people with guns, staring at me from a distance, shooting at me frantically.

Although the bullets flew towards me densely, none of them hit me.

I crawled towards the middle of the bridge without hesitation.

When I crawled to the middle of the bridge, I saw Wen Rourou’s father still lying motionless on the bridge, pretending to be dead.

I continued to crawl forward, snatched a rifle from the hand of a person who had been blown to death, and grabbed it in my hand.

It was a Soviet-made Mosin-Nagant rifle.

After holding the rifle in my hand, I quickly aimed, and with a “bang,” a person with a gun shooting at me at the other end of the bridge fell down in response.

Then, I aimed at another person with a gun shooting at me, and with another “bang,” another person fell down in response.

My marksmanship was extremely accurate. Every time I fired a bullet, a person at the other end of the bridge would definitely fall to the ground.

Soon, I shot and killed all the people with guns at the other end of the bridge.

I picked up the gun and stood up from the bridge.

Wen Rourou’s father, who had been pretending to be dead on the bridge, also stood up from the bridge.

The people at the other end of the bridge cheered and ran towards the bridge.

After everyone ran over, they surrounded me in the middle.
