I looked up and saw a Japanese reconnaissance plane circling in the sky.

“Everyone, quickly hide in the bushes by the roadside,” I said, pulling Wen Rourou’s father and bending over to squeeze into the bushes by the mountain road.

“Looks like these little devils are planning to attack this farm,” Wen Rourou’s father said.

“Are there any gold or silver treasures in this farm?” I asked with a smile.

“This place is strategically important, a must-contend for military strategists,” Wen Rourou’s father said.

“Oh, can you tell me about the farm’s terrain?” I asked.

“Although the farm is on the top of the mountain, the top is a flat area, about the size of a football field. There is a sentry tower at the entrance of the farm,” Wen Rourou’s father said.

After the reconnaissance plane flew away, we came out of the bushes.

As we were about to reach the entrance of the farm on the top of the mountain, I saw a sentry tower at the entrance, and I signaled Wen Rourou’s father and the people behind to squat down.

I took the gun in my hand and quickly pulled the trigger. With a “bang,” a bandit with a gun on the sentry tower fell down in response.

After a while, another bandit climbed up the sentry tower.

I raised my gun and shot at this bandit.

This shot was clean and swift, giving the opponent no chance to react.

At this moment, the farm gate opened a crack, and a bandit stuck his head out to look outside the gate.

I lay down, lie in the grass by the mountain road.

After a while, the farm gate opened halfway, and three bandits with guns came out.

“Bang, bang, bang,” I fired three shots in a row, and the three bandits fell down in response.

The Mosin-Nagant rifle in my hand was made in the Soviet Union.

During the Anti-Japanese War, the Soviet Union provided our country with tens of thousands of Mosin-Nagant rifles.

At that time, the more famous rifles in the world included the Japanese Arisaka rifle, the German Mauser rifle, and the Soviet Mosin-Nagant rifle.

The Mosin-Nagant rifle had good shooting accuracy, stable performance, and the magazine could hold five bullets.

After loading the bullets, I jumped up from the grass and quickly rushed into the farm gate.

From a row of wooden houses not far from the gate, five or six bandits with guns ran out, each of them panic-stricken, like headless flies.

“Hands up! Disarm and you won’t be killed!” I pointed my gun at these people and shouted loudly.

At this time, Wen Rourou’s father also ran in with a few young people, standing at the gate, pointing their guns at these bandits.

These bandits quickly threw away the guns in their hands and raised their hands.

“Squat down,” I shouted.

These bandits squatted down obediently.

Several older villagers also entered the farm. I asked these villagers to be responsible for guarding these surrendered bandits.

Wen Rourou’s father and a few young people went into the wooden house to search, to see if there were any bandits hiding inside.

I went around to one side of the wooden house and saw several rows of wooden houses in front.

Some bandits with guns were coming out of the wooden houses one after another, looking around.

Capture the ringleader first.

“Bang—” I fired a shot at someone who looked like a bandit leader.

“The Second Boss is dead, hurry into the house,” several panicked bandits shouted.

Some bandits immediately turned around and hid in the wooden houses, while others watched me from a distance, not daring to take another step forward.

According to Wen Rourou’s father, most of these bandits smoked opium, were mentally lax, and were listless.

They occupied the mountain as their own, seemingly brave, but once they encountered something, they immediately turned into shrinking turtles.

I saw that in an open space at the innermost part of the farm, there were piles of opium poppy fruits.

Poppy fruits can be used to make opium, and can also be used as medicine. They have the effects of anesthesia, analgesia, hypnosis, spasmolysis, anti-diarrhea, and cough suppression.

During the war, wounded soldiers needed a large number of anesthetic painkillers, and poppy fruits became highly sought-after “soft gold.”

I remembered the Japanese reconnaissance plane that had been circling over the farm before. It turned out that these little devils had their eyes on the poppy fruits here.

“Bang—” A bullet flew over my head.

This bullet was shot from the window of a wooden house.

I raised my gun and fired directly at the window without even aiming.

Then, I heard a scream from that wooden house.

“There’s a mortar in this wooden house,” Wen Rourou’s father said to me, going around behind me.

“Ask everyone to carry it out,” I said to him.

Then, two villagers in their twenties carried a mortar to the open space on one side of the wooden house, and two other villagers carried a box of shells.

This mortar was small in size, only sixty or seventy pounds. A soldier could carry it on his shoulder, and the effective range could reach 2000 meters.

I put a shell into the barrel. With a “bang,” the shell landed between two rows of wooden houses, and the two rows of wooden houses shook violently.

I put another shell into the barrel. With another “bang,” this shell landed between the other two rows of wooden houses.

I deliberately didn’t hit the wooden houses. I didn’t want to kill innocent people indiscriminately. I knew that some of the bandits in this farm were actually forced to become bandits after being captured by real bandits.

I said to a bandit who was squatting on the ground and had already surrendered, “Go over there, go into each row of wooden houses, and tell the people inside that if they want to live, they should come out of the houses and surrender.”

This bandit walked into the rows of wooden houses and said to the bandits inside, “If you want to live, come out and surrender!”

These bandits knew that we had cannons in our hands. If they didn’t come out and surrender, they would die. They all walked out of the houses without hesitation and surrendered their guns.

I gathered these surrendered bandits together and then asked, “Who is your leader?”

“The Second Boss has been killed by you. The Big Boss and the Third Boss have escaped from the farm through a secret passage in the house,” a bandit said.

“In recent years, after the little Japanese devils invaded our country, the war has been continuous, and people have no means of living. Today, I intend to use this natural stronghold of the farm to form an armed force to drive away the Japanese devils and defend our homeland. I welcome those who are willing to stay, and I will let go of those who are unwilling to stay. Those who leave must turn over a new leaf, abandon evil and do good, or the gun in my hand will not spare you,” I said, firing a shot into the sky.

Then, I talked about my plan to build a new farm: “We will grow corn, potatoes, and vegetables ourselves, and domesticate wild boars, pheasants, etc., to achieve self-sufficiency in food, meat, and vegetables.”

Originally, nearly half of the bandits were overjoyed when they heard that I could let them go, and were preparing to leave. But when they heard me talk about the plan to build a new farm, they changed their minds and didn’t leave.

After all, it was chaotic and dangerous to go down the mountain, but staying on the farm could ensure food and clothing. They all said that they were willing to stay.
