RI Chapter 5
by REX-NOVELISTSWang Xiaohui was very happy to see Hu Lanlan again, and happily led them to the main room to sit down, pouring them a glass of water.
“Sister, I didn’t expect to see you again!”
Hu Lanlan smiled softly and said, “Yes, we really are destined.”
“Why are you here at this time?”
“We transferred from Taian this morning, but we missed the last bus and took a minibus instead.”
Wang Xiaohui nodded and said, “You’re still going to Liujia Village?”
“Yes.”
“Xiaohui, is it just you at home?” Lei Yun suddenly asked him.
Wang Xiaohui scratched his head: “My dad went to the end of the village to help.” He paused and continued: “There’s just the two of us at home. My mother had a difficult labor when she gave birth to me and passed away.”
The atmosphere was slightly heavy, and Lei Yun nodded.
“By the way, didn’t you leave with Scarface that day? Where is he?” Lei Yun asked casually as he drank his water.
“Oh, him, that person is very strange. He went to the outside of the village with you yesterday, and left early this morning.”
Wang Xiaohui picked up the water bottle and poured them both another glass of water, then continued: “He stayed in the west room last night, you can stay there tonight too.”
Hu Lanlan smiled slightly, looking at Wang Xiaohui gently: “Thank you, Xiaohui, if it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t know what to do tonight.”
Wang Xiaohui’s face flushed slightly, and he glanced at Hu Lanlan shyly and said, “Sister, you’re too polite, our meeting again means we are destined.”
“Destined? We are indeed destined.” Lei Yun interjected from the side.
Looking at the furnishings in Wang Xiaohui’s house, the family’s financial situation was very average. The furniture inside was all made of simple wood, and it all looked quite old.
“Well, take us to see the east room, let’s rest earlier tonight.”
Lei Yun nodded and followed behind Wang Xiaohui.
As Hu Lanlan left, she glanced suspiciously at the west room.
Wang Xiaohui, who had been observing Hu Lanlan’s gaze, stopped and explained, “That’s the room my dad sleeps in.”
Hu Lanlan nodded with a slight smile.
The west room was not big, with a wooden bed and a table by the window.
“Brother Lei, sister, let’s rest here for the night.”
Lei Yun nodded, thanking him.
After Wang Xiaohui left, he thoughtfully helped them close the door.
“Let’s sleep here for a night first.” Lei Yun put down his bag, took off his shoes and lay down directly.
It was still summer, and the ground was slightly hot, with a straw mat spread on the wooden bed.
“So comfortable, I’m exhausted after running around all day.”
Hu Lanlan stood aside and glanced at Lei Yun on the bed, pushed him to the outside, and then lay down.
She also leaned tightly against Lei Yun’s arm, looking at him with a smile in her eyes.
Lei Yun was stunned and moved to the outside.
“What are you afraid of? I’m not going to eat you.” Hu Lanlan said softly, with a smile on her face.
“Lanlan, it’s getting late, let’s not make trouble, let’s rest early tonight.”
Hu Lanlan looked at him resentfully and said, “Brother Lei, you are the first man who ignores me on the bed.”
Lei Yun covered his lower jaw and coughed twice, saying, “Those women wouldn’t be like this if they knew I was a fox spirit.”
Hu Lanlan suddenly propped herself up: “Brother Lei, can you really sleep tonight?”
“Go to sleep quickly, you won’t be able to sleep even if you want to tomorrow night.”
Hu Lanlan snorted and turned her back to him, closing her eyes.
The night was silent, the moon was bright and the stars were dense. After running around for a day, the two of them fell asleep quickly.
The next morning, the two of them were awakened by a burst of rooster crows. Lei Yun got up and stretched.
“Lanlan, get up, it’s time to get to work.”
Hu Lanlan muttered, slowly opened her eyes, looked at Lei Yun and turned over.
Lei Yun got out of bed from her side, heavily opened the door and walked out.
Outside the house, a middle-aged man was stripped to the waist, practicing boxing in the yard. Seeing Lei Yun come out, he stopped and said, “You are Xiaohui’s friend, right? Did I wake you up so early?”
Lei Yun scratched his hair and grinned: “No, you are Xiaohui’s dad, right?”
The man nodded, took a towel from the side and wiped the sweat from his forehead, saying, “Yes, but we don’t use the term ‘dad’ here, we all call him ‘father’.”
“I’m waiting, you tell Xiaohui to get up and cook.”
“No hurry, uncle, we’ll be leaving in a while.”
“It’s okay, it’s already late.” Without waiting for Lei Yun to refuse, he shouted loudly in the yard: “Xiaohui, get up quickly and cook.”
After a while, a response came from Wang Xiaohui’s room.
“Father, I know.”
Lei Yun looked at the man in front of him, who was completely different from Wang Xiaohui. Wang Xiaohui had delicate features, fair skin, and looked gentle and weak, while the person in front of him had good martial arts skills. His lower body was extremely stable when he was boxing, his punching technique was fierce, and the sharpness in his eyes could not be ignored. Although he looked simple and honest, this person could not be underestimated.
Breakfast was rice porridge and steamed buns made by Wang Xiaohui, with pickled vegetables, which also tasted quite good. After the four of them finished breakfast together, Lei Yun and the others planned to leave.
Just as the two were about to leave, a shout came from the end of the village.
“The Great Grandfather is gone… The Great Grandfather is gone…”
A short, thin young man ran into Wang’s house. The surrounding families heard the commotion and rushed to the end of the village.
Wang Xiaohui’s father was originally hoeing weeds in the yard, but when he heard the woman’s words, he even threw down the hoe and ran towards the end of the village.
“Xiaohui, what’s wrong?” Lei Yun asked, looking at the blank-faced Wang Xiaohui.
Wang Xiaohui shook his head: “The Great Grandfather of our village has passed away. I heard that his health wasn’t good before, but I didn’t expect it to be so fast.”
“Brother Lei, sister, I won’t see you off. I have to go to Great Grandfather’s house. After you leave the village entrance, keep going north, and you’ll see Liujia Village after crossing a mountain.” After saying that, he hurriedly ran out.
Lei Yun and Hu Lanlan walked out of Little Wang Village. All the villagers they passed were running towards the end of the village. When they saw them, they only slowed down slightly and glanced at them before rushing over.
After walking out of the village entrance, Lei Yun suddenly turned around and looked at the village.
He was in contact with Yin people all year round, so he was particularly sensitive to this type of aura. If someone had passed away, how could there be no Yin energy at all?
“Why did you stop?” Hu Lanlan looked at him in confusion.
Lei Yun shook his head and continued forward.
The place was desolate, and there was no one on the road. Lei Yun couldn’t help but quicken his pace, taking Hu Lanlan to Liujia Village as if they were flying.
The two of them stood on the mountainside, looking at the mountain. They saw an abandoned village appear.
“That’s Liujia Village.” Hu Lanlan stood aside and said.
“Let’s go take a look.”
As soon as they entered the village, Lei Yun felt a strange aura, a very oppressive and low feeling. He casually walked into a house and saw that on the dusty, cobweb-covered dining table, he could still vaguely see unfinished meals.
“I looked at a few houses, and everything inside is not messy at all, everything is neat and orderly, as if these people have disappeared out of thin air.” Hu Lanlan walked into the house and said.
“Did you find anything when you came here that day?”
Hu Lanlan shook her head: “I only went there by accident that day, and I didn’t pay attention at the time. I picked up the talisman in the yard. I didn’t stop and came back. I’ll take you to the place where I found the talisman.”
