CLG Chapter 26
by REX-NOVELISTSCriminal Investigation Unit, interrogation room.
Li Zhong stood in front of Shi Hua. Shi Hua brought Mo Wenli with him this time, but the police didn’t interrogate her because Li Zhong could see that Shi Hua was the leader of the two. Rather than waste time on her, it was better to focus on Shi Hua.
“Do you know why I called you here?” Li Zhong looked at Shi Hua. His face was still calm, and he didn’t seem worried at all.
“Just say what you have to say, ask questions if you have any, and I’ll cooperate with you depending on the situation,” Shi Hua said with a slight smile.
Yang Xiaomin frowned aside, but she didn’t speak because Li Zhong asked her to be responsible for recording, and all questions were left to him.
“Investigate Chen Xuelin?”
The woman in front of him was silent. The eyes of the two women met at that moment. Shi Hua suddenly showed a smile, “Yes, investigate him.” Li Zhong must have gone to Chen Mo. Chen Mo must have said something false. Presumably Li Zhong should have his own answer. Without Shi Hua reminding him, he said Chen Xuelin’s name himself. It seems that Chen Mo did make her choice.
“But! If I want to know the truth, I can’t just look at the truth. If I want to investigate Meng Yue’s case, I can’t just be happy about Meng Yue’s case.” Shi Hua said, looking at Li Zhong.
“So, Meng Yue was sexually assaulted by Chen Xuelin?” Combining Chen Mo’s words, Li Zhong made his guess.
Yang Xiaomin was a little surprised. She had heard Chen Mo’s story from beginning to end, but those were all things from many years ago, and Meng Yue had only been killed a few days ago. It didn’t seem like there was any connection at all.
Shi Hua got some of the answers he wanted from Li Zhong’s eyes. After hesitating for a moment, “Yes.”
“After getting this answer, what do you plan to do, Captain Li?” Shi Hua asked.
“You only want such a simple truth, that’s all.” Shi Hua’s eyes flashed with crystal tears, and he lowered his voice and said.
The false is covered, and the truth becomes false.
But even so, so what? The law is useless to the dead.
As Shi Hua’s words fell, the room fell into dead silence. The three people could only hear their own breathing and heartbeats. Yang Xiaomin looked at the two people in front of her, and she didn’t know what to say for a moment.
She entrusted her last hope to them. She believed in these two people. Now all the clues are directing them to investigate Chen Xuelin. It’s hard not to think of one possibility: the three of them were in cahoots. If Meng Yue, Mo Wenli, and Shi Hua were in cahoots, then Meng Yue’s death was not simple. Considering that Shi Hua was at the scene at the time, Li Zhong had a bold guess: Meng Yue, might not have been murdered.
She used her life to fabricate the truth about her death, and the only person she wanted to frame was Chen Xuelin.
Public opinion can destroy the false, and it can also force out the truth.
After listening to Shi Hua’s words, Li Zhong turned around and whispered a few words in Yang Xiaomin’s ear. Yang Xiaomin was a little shocked. She didn’t expect that this man would ask her to turn off the camera. Although she felt a little uneasy, she still nodded.
Seeing that the camera was turned off, Li Zhong pulled a chair and sat directly in front of Shi Hua. “I’ve turned off the camera. Speak frankly.”
“How to solve it?”
He wanted to know how Li Zhong would choose. He used the truth about Meng Yue’s death as a bet to prove the mistakes that the woman had made. Meng Yue’s death was only to pull him out of the dust of history again. News needs heat, and so does the truth. The dead cannot be judged, but it doesn’t mean that the mistakes he made should be buried by history. This was also Meng Yue’s only request to Shi Hua.
Li Zhong looked at the seriousness and firmness in Shi Hua’s eyes. He was silent for a while, and he had his own decision in his heart.
An hour later, Shi Hua walked out of the Criminal Investigation Unit.
The sudden greeting brought Shi Hua back to his senses. He was just thinking about what Li Zhong was trying to do. This man didn’t agree to his conditions!
Could it be that he was planning to close the case by force? The impact of Meng Yue’s death was extremely great. Closing the case casually would undoubtedly cause damage to the credibility of the police. If Meng Yue committed suicide, the masses would probably question it in the absence of complete evidence. If it was said that Meng Yue was murdered, then a murderer would be needed, and this murderer could not exist.
Li Zhong’s attitude made Shi Hua unable to figure out what he was trying to do for a moment.
“What’s wrong? What happened when you went in? You look a little absent-minded. Did you really get beaten?” Seeing that Shi Hua didn’t speak, Mo Wenli asked curiously.
Unfortunately, he only had the last “card” in his hand. If this person couldn’t provide evidence to him either, the situation would probably be very bad. Clearly, they were victims, but they didn’t dare to tell their experiences. Chen Mo wasn’t the first person, and she wouldn’t be the last. Shi Hua only hoped that the next victim wouldn’t be the second Chen Mo.
“Captain?” Yang Xiaomin looked at Li Zhong next to him and muttered in a low voice. He had been flipping through the files here all afternoon. He had specifically asked to turn off the camera, but in the end, he refused Shi Hua’s request.
“What’s wrong?”
“What are you doing here? Aren’t we going to investigate?”
Mo Wenli killed someone and dumped the body, which was filmed by surveillance. The murder weapon was also found in Mo Wenli’s rental house, with her fingerprints on it. So in the end, she was sentenced, but because Mo Wenli produced a record of Chen Xuelin coercing her, and considering that she was drunk at the time of the incident, and most importantly, when Chen Xuelin’s wife, Li Shuxuan, was interviewed afterwards, she publicly said that she chose to forgive Mo Wenli, so Mo Wenli was given a light sentence.
“Of course I won’t agree to him, even if he’s doing it for his justice, I have my principles.”
“But…” Yang Xiaomin wanted to explain. She thought that what Shi Hua said was somewhat reasonable.
“This Chen Xuelin is originally a clue. Isn’t it our responsibility to investigate him?”
After hearing Li Zhong’s words, Yang Xiaomin smiled. After all, after understanding the situation, she really hated Chen Xuelin. He did so many bad things behind his back, but in the end, he still got a good reputation. On the contrary, those who had been violated by him were still living with guilt and pain to this day, which she really couldn’t accept. Just thinking about Chen Mo’s expression when she explained the situation to them, she could feel the pain and entanglement from Chen Mo.
The person who committed the crime is dead, but the victims are still dying in pain. If this kind of truth is not worth pursuing, then what is justice?
“Then what about Meng Yue’s case…” Yang Xiaomin said softly. The leaders above were giving him time. If Li Zhong couldn’t solve it within the time limit and let public opinion continue to ferment, the situation wouldn’t be good for Li Zhong.
“As long as Chen Xuelin’s matter is resolved, I believe Shi Hua should give us an answer.”
“So whether Meng Yue committed suicide or was murdered, this Shi Hua didn’t say.” Yang Xiaomin asked.
“No, he has already said it very clearly.”
“Ah?”
“The three of them must be in cahoots.”
“Meng Yue, Shi Hua, Mo Wenli?”
“Yes.”
“So it’s suicide?”
“I guess it should be. It’s just that Meng Yue is using her life to put on a show.”
Thinking of this, Li Zhong couldn’t help but sigh. This price is too heavy…
