“Knock, knock, knock.”

It was obvious which houses in the Old City District hadn’t been demolished; they were surrounded by construction sites.

Lin Yuan hadn’t knocked for long when a weathered face appeared before him.

“Hello, Uncle. I’m from District C Police Station. I’d like to talk to you about the Wang Zhiyan case.”

The old man didn’t look pleased after he heard this. He glanced at Lin Yuan before letting him in.

The furnishings inside were simple, two rooms, both kept clean and tidy. An old woman was sitting on the sofa, her legs clearly having problems.

Compared to Wang Zhiyan’s father’s coldness, his mother was much more approachable, her eyes filled with smiles as she looked at Lin Yuan.

Lin Yuan nodded.

“Even if he wasn’t our biological son, we raised him. He’s our son,” the old man said sternly.

“We really don’t know about that…” Wang Zhiyan’s mother glanced at her husband. Generally, sons wouldn’t talk about these things with their parents, and he usually just helped with housework.

He called Director Zhang, and the people there were aware of the situation. Lin Yuan met the other party’s secretary smoothly.

It wasn’t surprising that they thought so. Zhang Yaozhi knew Lin Yuan’s strength because he had personally arrested him, along with so many suspects.

The police hadn’t publicly announced who solved the case, and there weren’t many people who knew about it.

The answer would be revealed when everything was settled, so Lin Yuan’s appearance would only make people think that District C was about to fail and that they had to invite anyone with a little trick up their sleeve.

The secretary knew that she couldn’t just look at things from her own perspective when doing things.
